Champ Giraud, built in 1881, is two and a half kilometers outside the picturesque village of Verteuil-sur-Charente, in the department of Charente. The region of Poitou-Charentes is the second sunniest in France and enjoys lovely long hot summers. The pretty Sunrise and Sunset cottages, either side of the owner's house, are in a one acre garden, with above ground pool, surrounded by fields of maize and sunflowers.Perfect to spend your holiday with family or friends!&A Welcome Basket with those necessary basics will be ready for you when you arri

The cottage Sunset has a lounge with woodburner, kitchen/diner (gas cooker, microwave, fridge, washing machine ) and shower room on the ground floor. Upstairs are two good sized bedrooms, one with a double bed, the other has two singles. Sunset also has a small 3rd bedroom for a 5th person. Also satellite TV and WiFi for the internet. The house faces south-west and has it's own patio and terrace area with patio furniture and a barbeque. The cottage is a non smoking accommodation.

In Verteuil, you can spend a morning strolling around the narrow streets of the village and along the river by the mill, spend an evening in the Dixieland Bar with music, pretty courtyard garden and good value food. Hotel La Paloma has a nice restaurant and a terrace for outside dining on warm summer evenings.
Visit the church and cemetery and take a riverside walk. There are lots of quiet roads and lanes around the cottage and the village for you to drive, cycle or walk along. Air de Rejallant is only 5 kilometres away, where you can bathe in the river, hire a canoe, have a picnic or enjoy enjoy a drink or lunch or dinner at Cafe Porte Bleue which also has live jazz every Thursday night.
